Germany: Intense match in 3rd division between old rivals.

First time in 25 years the two rivals met in a league match - And what a way to celebrate that!

Back in the time when Eastern Germany had their own league (DDR-league), Hansa Rostock and Magdeburg were big rivals. But after they merged East and West-Germany, both clubs ended up in lower divisions, even thought Hansa played in Bundesliga 1. the first season.

Match-day

Magdeburg fans arrived Rostock with train, about 300km long journey. When they was about to arrive unknown masked persons attacked the train with objects and blue paint "bombs".

Before kick-off new trouble occurred, this time outside the stadium. Fight between Hansa and Magdeburg. Police took the identity of 85 fans, unknown how many got arrested.

Also after match there was some trouble when a big group of Hansa supporters tried to attack Magdeburg fans in the train station. But police got control, as they had 1300 police officers on duty for this match!

16 300 fans attended this match. Fans of both teams started with a pyro show and match got interrupted for 17 minutes.

It's strange to see the away sector being on the same side as the hardcore home crowd. Guess nobody got surprised when fans of both clubs exchanged flying pyrotechnics, some fans even broke the barriers trying to reach each others, but police got control very quick. Hansa fans had a new pyro show when they scored their 1-0 goal.
